Here's What's New!

Ukulele Jams Bring your ukulele (or guitar) to a lively musical jam with other ukulele enthusiasts! The Des Moines Ukulele Strummers meet every Monday night from 6:30-7:45 pm at Rieman Music, Des Moines-Urbandale, in their recital room. The location is 6501 Douglas Avenue, Urbandale, IA. Music stands are provided by the store, so bring either a copy of Jumpin'Jim's Ukulele Songbook -- The Daily Ukulele or print out the songs each week. To access the weekly updated playlists, check out the DMUS website or DMUS Facebook. Come and join us to learn tunes on the ukulele, learn some fun new techniques, stretch yourself with some optional performance opportunities all the while getting to know new friends. Facilitated by DMUS member Melanie Hall.

Learn Something New
and Make New Friends Too!

ABOUT

The Art House at Windsor Presbyterian Church was created in 2017 as an initiative to reach out to the surrounding community and offer a place for friendship for all ages through the Arts. It is an inter-generational approach to getting-to-know each other in creative ways, expanding our perspective and appreciation for friendships with older and younger folks. We are offering classes, gatherings, and special art events on a weekly or monthly basis. See Programs for details about our classes!

About

Creative Exploration

In Music + Play classes, young children, ages 15 months to 5 years can experience music and movement in weekly classes with parents or caregivers led by a trained early childhood music educator. Creative exploration through music enhances a child’s ability to excel in learning and in physical and social development. Families will recall and learn traditional and folk literature that have nurtured wonder and joy in young people for generations.

Check back later for updates on when Music + Play will be back up and running! Until then check out our Music + Play Resources page

Something New

The Art House gives you the opportunity to try something new in a community of support. Want to join a ukulele group but never have played the ukulele? We have instructors to help you. Want to join an intergenerational choir? We can even teach you the music by ear. This is a place to grow and to learn. But most importantly to let your heart sing. Come join us.

“Because if everyone played the ukulele,

this world would be a much happier place.”

– Jake Shimabukuro

Making friendships

Either through our Coffee House Concert Series or through weekly or monthly classes you’ll find friendships with a community of like-minded creative individuals. Bring your friends and neighbors too.
