Ukulele Choir, ‘strum’ fun for all! Come and learn tunes on the ukulele, First Thursday of every month, 6:30-7:30 p.m. All ages and abilities are welcome to this free monthly gathering at Art House Des Moines, Windsor Presbyterian Church, 6301 University Ave, Windsor Heights. Facilitated by Natalie Steenson, Director of Art House Des Moines. Bring your ukulele and have ‘strum’ fun!

The Art House at Windsor Presbyterian Church was created in 2017 as an initiative to reach out to the surrounding community and offer a place for friendship for all ages through the Arts. It is an inter-generational approach to getting-to-know each other in creative ways, expanding our perspective and appreciation for friendships with older and younger folks. We are offering classes, gatherings, and special art events on a weekly or monthly basis, beginning in September 2017. See Programs for details about our classes!

Creative Exploration

In Music + Play, young children, ages 15 months to 5 years can experience music and movement in weekly classes with parents or caregivers led by a trained early childhood music educator. Creative exploration through music enhances a child’s ability to excel in learning and in physical and social development. Families will recall and learn traditional and folk literature that have nurtured wonder and joy in young people for generations.

Something New

The Art House gives you the opportunity to try something new in a community of support. Want to join a ukulele choir but never have played the ukulele? We have instructors to help you. Want to join an intergenerational choir? We can even teach you the music by ear. This is a place to grow and to learn. But most importantly to let your heart sing. Come join us.

“Because if everyone played the ukulele, this world would be a much happier place.” – Jake Shimabukuro

Making Friendships

Either through our Coffee House Concert Series or through weekly or monthly classes you’ll find friendships with a community of like-minded creative individuals. Bring your friends and neighbors too.
